Synergy I, II and III

‘Aquacultural Encounters’

Residency and exhibition, 2015-16
University of Stirling

The Synergy series consists of three sculptures made primarily of bogwood roots that have been sculpted by weather conditions and preserved in peat bogs in Scotland for hundreds of years. Three bogwood roots are conjoined with new abstract bronze shapes. The series highlights and celebrates the success of a cleaner fish strategy that uses wrasse to control sea lice infestations in Atlantic Salmon by building on the idea of two disparate species creating a synergy in which they co-habit and mutually benefit each other.
