Storm, 2005
Reclaimed bronze, W 168 cm x D 168 cm in x H 160 cm

A mature tree takes many years to grow but can be blown over instantly by a strong gale. The bronze sitka spruce entitled 'Storm' - made from recycled industrial waste metal - evokes a sense of anxiety and vulnerability. It draws attention to the ever increasing problem of changing and intensifying weather conditions. 'Storm' highlights the often irreversible damage caused by severe climate change, while at the same time paying tribute to the crucial eco-balancing role of trees.

The durability of bronze serves as a permanent reminder of the problem of climate change and the need to deal with it and to restore what is left of our natural environment.
