Flux hinges on the effects of climate change. It engages viewers to consider their own immediate environment, and to contemplate the future effects of change in a global context. The burn marks on the surfaces of the spheres get progressively more dynamic, like the swirling mists and scudding cloudscapes, which so often accompany extreme and tempestuous weather conditions. The work is thought provoking, suggesting as it does the severity of climate change and concern for the future if change continues unabated, whilst also retaining the innate beauty which is the world all around us. I chose clay as the medium because of its dual quality - strong but at the same time fragile.
